Circular Motion
Movement that revolves around a single axis, known as the axis of rotation.
Tangential Speed (Vt)
The speed of an object moving along an imaginary line that is tangent to its circular path.
Centripetal Acceleration (Ac)
The acceleration directed toward the center of a circular path that occurs at constant speed due to a change in direction.
Centripetal Force (Fc)
The net force directed toward the center of a circular path that keeps an object in uniform circular motion.
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist changes in its motion; in the context of a turning car, it causes passengers to slide toward the door.
Gravitational Force
The mutual force of attraction between two masses that keeps planets in orbit around the sun.
Uniform Circular Motion
The motion of an object traveling at a constant speed in a circular path.
Tangential Acceleration
Occurs when there is a change in speed of an object in circular motion.
Free Fall
The condition of an object being only influenced by gravity, such as a satellite in orbit.
Gravitational Force and Mass
Gravitational force depends on the masses of the objects and the distance between them.
