Basic quantities
The three fundamental quantities measured in physics are length, mass, and time.
Length
The measurement of distance, typically measured in meters (m).
Decimeter (dm)
A unit of length equal to 10^-1 meters.
Centimeter (cm)
A unit of length equal to 10^-2 meters.
Millimeter (mm)
A unit of length equal to 10^-3 meters.
Kilometer (km)
A larger unit of length equal to 10^3 meters (approximately 5/8 mile).
Area
The measurement of the size of a surface, calculated by multiplying length and breadth.
Volume
The measurement of the amount of space occupied by an object, typically measured in cubic meters (m^3).
Liter
A unit of volume equal to 1000 cubic centimeters (cm^3) or 1 cubic decimeter (dm^3).
Milliliter (ml)
A unit of volume equal to 1 cubic centimeter (cm^3).
Time
The measurement of the duration of events, with the unit of time being the second (s).
