What did Mendel discover instead?
Traits are inherited as separate hereditary units (not blended).
What did Mendel’s cross experiments show?
Dominant traits appear in the first generation then recessive in the next
Why was Mendel’s work ignored at first?
Scientists didn’t understand genes/DNA yet.
not widely recognised as scientist (monk)
not many scientist read his publishing
Why is Mendel important today?
His work is the foundation of modern genetics e.g chromosomes
