Verb Phrase
A verb and helping verbs eg, he was eager to eat dinner.
Prepositional phrase
starts wth prepostion eg. The keys are on the table
Adjective Phrase
describes a noun
Adverb phrase
modiied verb, adj, or adverb
Participle phrase
begins with verb ending in -ing or -ed, acting as an adj
Adjective clause
modifies noun → says which one, what kind about the noun. Eg. “The horse that he rode was a champion”
Adverb Clause
modifies verb or adj → answers how, under what conditions or why. Usually begins with when, after. since, because, altough. EG “I left because I had another engagement”
Noun Clause
acts as noun eg. Whatever I do seems to be wrong.
