How does the use of a hydrophone facilitate the measurement and calculation of different acoustic parameters during quality assurance testing?

 1. Measures acoustic output (sound intensity)

 2. Detects pressure variations in the sound field

 3. Help calculate parameters like: intensity, power, beam profile

It converts ultrasound waves into electrical signals for a precise measurement during QA testing

By placing the transducer on Face B, what aspect of detail resolution is being tested?

By placing the transducer on Face B, what aspect of detail resolution is being tested?

Axial resolution

What is the purpose of QA testing in a sonography department? (3 points)

 1. Ensure consistence image quality

 2. Detect equiment malfunctions early

 3. Maintain patient safety and accuarte diagnosis

When looking at this image, what parameter is being evaluated indicated by the blue arrow?

When looking at this image, what parameter is being evaluated indicated by the blue arrow?

Nylon pins are use to evaluate axial and lateral resolution. In this case the arrow is pointing at the lateral resolution test

What specific metrics are evaluated when assessing the performance of an ultrasound scanning system? (5 metrics)

 1. Sensitivity

 2. Axial Resolution

 3. Lateral Resolution

 4. Distance accuracy

 5. Image Uniformity

6
New cards

What item is used to assesses detail resolution (axial/lateral resolution) and distance accuracy (range/caliper accuracy)?

Multipurpose phantom, it contains nylon pins targets that help evaluate different parameters

How would you describe the normal sonographic appearance of blood on a sonogram and why?

Blood normally appears anechoic because it's constantly moving. Even though is made of multiple particles, the continous motion prevents refection of sound waves back to the transducer.

What factors can affect the normal composition of RBCs? (5 points)

 1. Hematocrit levels

 2. Diseases (Polycythemia/ anemia)

 3. Medications

 4. Temperature

 1. Hydration

9
New cards

How body maintains flow (Q)? (3 points)

 1. Vasodilation

 2. Increase velocity

 3. Collateral circulation

List the 4 venous urn mechanisms

 1. Valves

 2. Calf muscle pump

 3. Respiration

 4. Atrial contraction
