Histotechnique
A process that necessitates the cutting of thin sections of fixed tissues.
Required Tissue State
Fixed tissues must be of suitable hardness and Consistency when presented to the knife edge to allow thin sections to be cut.
Infiltrating and Surrounding (Embedding)
Methods used to impart desired haukss and Consistency to tissue using materials like paraffin wax, celloiding, LVM, or resins.
LVM
how viscocity nitrocellulose used as an embedding medium to provide hardness to fixed tissues.
Paraffin wax
Material used for embedding practically all routine chegnostic block.
Processing
The term used to describe the various stages between fixation and cutting of Sections.
Prerequisites for Infiltration
Processing is only possible after the Fixed tissues has been dehydrated and cleared.
Stage 1 of Processing
Dehydration.
Stage 2 of Processing
Clearing.
Stage 3 of Processing
Infiltration and Embedding.
