What are Response curves
Graphical tools used to show the effect that each parameter has upon a process and to select the optimum setup.
What is the Signal to Noise (S/N) Ratio
A performance metric calculated using the formula S/N=−10log10(MSD).
What is Six Sigma
A rigorous and disciplined methodology that uses data and statistical analysis to measure and improve operational performance by identifying and eliminating "defects."
What significance is 3.4 Defects Per Million Opportunities
The specific metric used in Six Sigma to measure process performance and quality.
Define Potential quality
The known maximum possible value added per unit of input.
Define Actual quality
The current value added per unit of input.
Define Waste ( 6 sigma)
The difference between potential quality and actual quality within the Six Sigma framework.
Define DMAICT
A six-step performance improvement model standing for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control, and Transfer.
Describe the Define Phase ( 6 sigma)
The DMAICT step focused on defining continuous improvement project requirements, customer requirements, and the business case.
Describe the Measure Phase (6 sigma)
The DMAICT step involving the identification of 'critical to quality' factors and establishing process capabilities.
Describe the Analyse Phase (6 sigma)
The DMAICT step focused on identifying causes of successful and unsuccessful performance and benchmarking competitors.
Describe the Improve Phase (6 sigma)
The DMAICT step where performance is optimized via factor adjustment and Design of Experiments, such as Taguchi Signal to Noise.
Describe the Control Phase (6 sigma)
The DMAICT step involving the introduction of an optimized process and monitoring performance using tools like SPC (Statistical Process Control).
Describe the Transfer Phase (six sigma)
The final DMAICT step involving the sharing of best practices and expertise across the organization.
What is a Executive Leader
A high-level executive committed to Six Sigma success who assigns key individuals to Champion/Sponsor positions.
Define Champion/Sponsor
High-level individuals who oversee Black Belts, provide resources, and assist in selecting Six Sigma projects.
Define Master Black Belt
The highest level of technical and organisational proficiency in Six Sigma; these individuals are experts in mathematical theory and assist Black Belts.
Define a Six Sigma Black Belt
Technically oriented individuals who lead organizational change full-time and typically receive 160 hours of classroom instruction.
Define a Green Belt
Six Sigma project leaders capable of forming teams and managing projects from concept to completion, typically trained for five days.
