“I could pick anything and…”
“Think of you.”
She initiates the poem to be a love of cliches and traditionality
She uses first person to direct the love specifically to him
Everything in her life reminds her of her husband and the memories she has experienced while being with him
She then goes onto list individual items that have reminded her of him showing how she finds love for him in the everyday
“There you’ll be..”
“With furrowed brow and chain mail glinting.”
More references to a cliche version of love by comparing her love for him to a typical fairytale prince setting her free
She views Fred as her knight in shining armour that gave her a fairytale ending
He has freed her from the constraints of loneliness
Tone used is humorous but the sentiment of what she said is real
“Oddly male..”
“Big Bad Floyd”
Reference to Hurricane Floyd, an enormous and devastating hurricane that struck the east cost of the US
Dove personifies the hurricane as a man and this plunges her into memories of the boys she dated when she was young
Alliteration shows how she is reflecting on her younger times - immature language
The tone is playful and draws reference to the personification of Hurricanes
Could referent how Fred was the hurricane that disrupted her life positively
“”Worthless..”
“Boys.”

Reinforces the significance of their love
“To keep me from melancholy…”
“I fill this stolen time with you.”
Stolen time refers to how the hurricane has disrupted their lives and taken the time away from then
She accepts the stolen time as it means she gets to spend time with her husband
Fred stops her from feeling upset and blues even during the hurricane
He is the constant sort of happiness within their life and the break from the mundane of modern life
They are able to refelect on their relationship
They are content with their ‘boring’ love
