clotrimazole
- antifungal
topical: athletes foot, ringworm, vaginal yeast infection
oral: oral thrush (cancer pts)

timolol
beta blocker

capsaicin
- pain relief, nasal congestion

- antimetabolite; interferes w DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells

metronidazole

pramoxine HCl
topical anesthetic-> for itching and pain (numbs area)
ex: insect bites, poison ivy, burn, rash, hemorrhoids
1. topical: cream, ointment, lotion

clobetasol propionate
corticosteroid-> skin inflammation
ex: psoriasis, eczema, contact dermatitis
1. topical: cream, ointment, gel, lotion
- hands, feet, scalp
*not for systemic absorption

clindamycin

ex: acne, pneumonia, other infections
1. oral (systemic): tabs and caps, IV, IM for bacterial infections

- vaginal suppository/cream: bacterial infection

benzoyl peroxide
- antibacterial action, exfoliant, anti-inflammatory
1. topical (local): creams, gels, lotion
- face, back, chest
= for acne: reduces bacteria and clears clogged pores

zinc oxide
protective, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties
- diaper rash, sunscreen, chafing, wound healing (cell growth), acne products
1. topical: cream, lotion, ointment, powders

lidocaine
local anesthetic (numbs tissue)
1. topical: creams, ointments, gels, patches
- for localized pain
2. oral: throat spray/ lozenges
- to numb throat
3. injection= surgery, dental work, epidural
