Computing Bias

Systematic and unfair discrimination built into a computing system, often as a result of biased data, biased design decisions, or lack of diverse perspectives

Training Data Bias

Occurs when the data used to build or train a system does not accurately represent all groups, causing the system to learn and perpetuate those gaps

Design Bias

Occurs when the people building a system do not consider the needs and experiences of all potential users, causing the system to work well for some but poorly for others

Algorithmic Bias

Occurs when the rules or logic of an algorithm produce systematically different outcomes for different groups of people
