first section of scientific report;

short summary that includes all major elements e.g. aims/hypothesis/method/procedure/results/conclusions

abt 150-200 words in length

a literature review of the general area of research;

details relevant theories/concepts that are related to the current study

includes sufficient detail for other researchers to precisely replicate the study

split into subsections;

  1. design e.g. independent grps/naturalisitic observation etc with reasons/justification given for your choice
