At the level of the lower border of the cricoid cartilage.

Where does the esophagus end?

At the cardiac orifice of the stomach at the level of T11 vertebra.

What are the three regions that the esophagus passes through?

Cervical part (neck), Thoracic part (chest), Abdominal part (abdomen).

Which part of the esophagus is a short segment before entering the stomach?

Abdominal part.

Through which area does the esophagus descend?

Through the posterior mediastinum, anterior to the vertebrae and posterior to the trachea.
