Integer

A whole number both positive and negative, including zero.

Absolute Value

The distance a number is from zero, represented by |x|.

Ratio

A comparison of any two quantities, expressed as A to B.

Unit Rate

The number of units of the first quantity of a ratio compared to one unit of the second quantity.

Coordinate Plane

A plane with perpendicular lines that intersect to create a graph.

Regular Polygons

Polygons with congruent sides and congruent interior angles.

Proportional

The relationship of one part to another where the ratios are equal.

Symmetry

A property where a figure is divided into two congruent parts that are mirror images of each other.

Exponent

A number written above and to the right of a base number indicating how many times the base is multiplied by itself.

Mean

The average or balance point of a set of numbers.

Median

The middle value of data ranked from least to greatest.

Mode

The number that occurs the most in a data set.

Range

The spread of the data, calculated as the difference between the highest and lowest values.

Variable

A symbol that represents an unknown quantity.

Coefficient

The number with the variable in a term.

Term

A number, variable, product, or quotient in an expression of sums and/or differences.

Equation

Two expressions that are equal.

Expression

A mathematical phrase with no equality or inequality sign.
