Metaphor
Figure of speech that makes a direct comparison between two unrelated things by stating that one thing is another.

Perspective
Different ways people see things, such as opinions and ideas.
Narrator
A person who is introducing the story, retelling it in their words, in their point of view.
Point of view
A perspective from which a person observes a situation or story.
First person (I/We)

Third person limited (he/she/they with restricted knowledge)
Third person omniscient (he/she/they with all knowing perspective)
Central idea
A primary message an author wants to convey.

A good example to a text that connects to the central idea.
Authors purpose
The primary reason for writing a specific text.

Citation
A reference to a source of information.
Works Cited
a formatted list of sources used in an essay, or any form of writing to prove validity.
Thesis
A central claim in your essay and ideas introducing what your essay will be about.
