Interphase
a growth period where a cell doubles in size, duplicates all its organelles, and replicates its DNA during the S (Synthesis) phase, creating identical sister chromatids, ensuring each new cell gets a complete set of genetic instructions
Prophase
Prophase is the first stage of mitosis during which chromosomes condense and become visible under light microscopy; spindle fibers form and the nuclear envelope breaks down.
Metaphase
A stage during which all chromosomes align at the center (equator) of the cell before being separated into two new cells.
Anaphase
a phase in which sister chromatids separate into two new nuclei.
Telophase
the stage where genetically identical nuclei form at opposite ends of a parent cell.
Cytokinesis
the final stage of cell division where the cytoplasm of a parent cell divides to form two separate daughter cells
