Fascism
A political form of government including a dictator and holding similar traits to a totalitarian government.
Treaty of Versailles
The treaty that ended World War I, which left Germany upset and bitter, contributing to WWII.
Appeasement
The policy of making concessions to an aggressor to avoid conflict, as practiced by Britain and France towards Germany.
Neutrality Acts
Acts made by the US government to keep the nation neutral during the early years of WWII.
Lend-Lease Act
A law allowing the US to lease war equipment to nations that could not afford to buy it.
Pearl Harbor
A US naval base attacked by Japan on December 7, 1941, leading to the US entry into WWII.
Allied Powers
The coalition of countries including France, the US, Britain, and the Soviet Union fighting against the Axis Powers.
Axis Powers
The alliance of nations including Italy, Germany, and Japan during WWII.
Nazi-Soviet Pact
An agreement between Germany and the Soviet Union to not attack each other at the beginning of WWII.

Debt securities issued by the government to finance military operations during the war.
D-Day Invasion
The Allied forces' invasion of France on June 6, 1944, marking the start of Operation Overlord.
Holocaust
The mass extermination of Jews and other groups by Nazi Germany during WWII.
Nuremberg Trials
Trials of Nazi leaders held after WWII, where many were sentenced to death or imprisonment.
Yalta Peace Conference
A meeting between FDR, Churchill, and Stalin to discuss post-war reorganization and control of Germany.
