Mission
God’s plan to restore the world to fellowship with Him. It is God’s work of reconciliation, begun in creation, revealed through Abraham, the Prophets, and fully through Jesus Christ. The Church continues this mission of reaching out, sharing the Gospel, and inviting people into God’s Kingdom (centrifugal outward movement). ~
Mission meaning

Ministry
Serving and caring for people within the Church community. Focuses on nurturing believers through spiritual, educational, social, and emotional care. Based on Christ’s servant example (centripetal inward movement). ~
Mission vs Ministry
Mission reaches non-believers through evangelism and outward movement; Ministry cares for believers through service and inward nurturing. Both are equally important. ~
Dr Abraham Mar Thoma
Strong missionary vision; sent missionaries across India; encouraged every member to be a missionary; founded Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association; promoted revival meetings; strengthened evangelistic identity of the Church. ~
Dr Alexander Mar Thoma
Combined evangelism with social justice; expanded mission fields; strengthened spiritual life; opposed alcohol abuse, corruption, injustice; supported poor and Dalit communities; promoted inclusive Church growth. ~

Leadership shapes mission; faith must include action; mission includes preaching and service; youth must participate actively. ~

Mother Teresa
Served poorest in Kolkata; founded Missionaries of Charity; worked with sick, dying, homeless, abandoned; built homes and hospitals; known for humility and simple living. ~
Stanley Jones vs Mother Teresa
Stanley Jones focused on evangelism, dialogue, and ashrams; Mother Teresa focused on direct service and charity. Both served India deeply. ~

Rehabilitation centers, special needs schools, counseling centers, homes for children, homeless shelters, old age homes, hospice centers, medical mission hospitals; serving poor, sick, suffering, marginalized. ~
