Whats insulin
A hormone carried in bloodstream , plays a role in blood glucose regulation
Consists of two polypeptide chains , and the two chains are linked by disulfide bonds
Hormones like insulin carry out their functions by binding to specific receptor molecules, these receptors are proteins found on cell membrane of target cells.

What is the enzyme lysozyme
Found in tears and saliva, its job is to catalyse the breakdown of a molecule in the bacterial cell wall, this helps to defend the body against bacteria
Key feature of enzymes is that they only react with specific substrate molecule, this specificity is due to the structure of enzyme.
What does lysozyme consist of
A single polypeptide chain , the chain folds to form a groove along the surface , this groove is called the active site.
The shape of the active site means it fits perfectly to the substrate molecule in the bacterial cell wall
