What is the primary immune response?
Response to a newly encountered antigen
What is the secondary immune response?
Response to a previously encountered antigen
During clonal expansion what do T and B cells form?
Memory cells
What do memory cells form the basis of?
immunological memory
Explain this graph
Primary response:
- B cells have to make antibodies for the first time
- clonal selection + clonal expansion
- T helper cells + B cells + antibodies are differentiated
Secondary response:
- B memory cells differentiate to produce plasma cells to produce the antibodies
- quicker because we don't have clonal selection + clonal expansion
