antacids for neutralizing stomach acid
histamine receptor antagonists - end in tidine
proton pump inhibitors: end in prazole
mucosal protectants like sucralfate
prokinetics like misoprostol - only for gastric ulcers
nursing consideration/care for patients with PUD
watch for a tearing/hemorrhage: board like stomach
watch for pernicious anemia - no vit b
watch for dumping syndrome (rush of lood to the stomach after recent heavy emptying of contents; dizziness, pallor, perspirations, ha)
teach no smoking, no alcohol and no NSAIDS
