Environmental Justice
Advocacy, science, and policy addressing the negative climate impacts on communities of color and low-income communities.
Colonialism
Characterized by conquest and genocide, providing colonialists ongoing access to land and resources.
Decolonial
Actions that emancipate people from and deconstruct colonial structures and Eurocentrism.
Anticolonial
Actions that resist existing colonial development while potentially operating within colonial structures.
Global North
Countries historically colonizing powers, often referred to as developed countries.
Global South
Countries historically and currently colonized by the Global North, often referred to as developing countries.
Scientific Method
A systematic process of inquiry used to gather data and test hypotheses.
Flipped Classroom
A teaching method where students do assigned readings before class and actively engage during class time.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and skills students are expected to acquire from a course, including understanding Earth systems and cycles.
Environmental Impact of AI
Concerns regarding the effects of artificial intelligence on the environment discussed in the course.
