Energy
The ability to do work or produce a change, measured in joules (J), and can only be transformed, not created or destroyed.
Potential energy
Stored energy that can be used later, dependent on the substance and its location.
Kinetic energy
Energy from movement, where faster movement results in more kinetic energy.
Thermal (heat) energy
Comes from the movement of atoms and molecules, with faster movement leading to more heat energy.
Mechanical energy
Originates from an object's position and movement.
Electrical energy
Arises from the movement of charged particles through a wire.
Magnetic energy
Results from the push and pull of a magnetic field.
Conservation of energy
Energy is neither created nor destroyed, only converted or transferred.
Energy transfer
Energy is converted from one form to another or transferred from one object to another to perform work.
Efficiency
The fraction of energy used for useful work, expressed as a percentage, indicating how well energy is converted from one form to another.
