Cerebrospinal fluid
A fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord, constantly being produced by choroid plexus blood vessels.
Thalamus
A brain structure that serves as a relay station for sensory information before it enters the cerebral cortex.
Hypothalamus
A region of the brain responsible for regulating basic drives such as hunger and thirst, as well as controlling the pituitary gland.
Medulla oblongata
The brainstem structure that regulates vital autonomic functions, including heart rate and breathing.
Pons
A part of the brainstem that connects the cerebellum to the medulla and plays roles in regulating sleep and respiration.
Cerebellum
The brain structure that coordinates voluntary movements and is critical for motor control.
Reticular formation
A network of neurons that regulates alertness and arousal in the brain.
Fourth ventricle
The cavity located between the cerebellum and pons filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
Corpus callosum
The largest commissure in the brain, connecting the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
Choroid plexus
