Direct Lighting
Light source pointed at the subject.
Semi-indirect Lighting
Partially deflected light.

Light that is scattered or bounced off a ceiling or wall.
Chroma
Measure of the presence of a hue, including brightness and intensity.
Saturation
Purity of a hue; variation between a strong hue and a neutral color.
Color Rendering Index (CRI)
Measurement of the ability of a light source to show the true color of an object as perceived by the human eye, on a scale of 1-100.
Incandescent Lighting
Illumination produced by the glow of a filament with a CRI of 95-100.
LED
Light Emitting Diode; an energy-efficient light source that varies in CRI.
Additive Method of Colored Lighting
Combining multiple light sources to create white light (e.g., Red + Blue + Green = White).
Subtractive Method of Colored Lighting
Using colored gels placed in front of a single light source to alter the color output.
Trough Lights
Hidden narrow fixtures with one or more bulbs for direct lighting.
Flood Lights
Artificial lights that are directed or diffused, providing illumination to a large area.
Key Light
