Gametogenesis
The process of formation of gametes (sperms in males and ova in females).
Insemination
The transfer of sperms into the female genital tract.
Fertilisation
The fusion of male and female gametes leading to the formation of a zygote.
Zygote
The fertilised ovum that results from the fusion of sperm and ovum.
Spermatogenesis
The process of sperm formation in males.
Oogenesis
The process of formation of mature female gametes (ova).
Menstrual Cycle
The reproductive cycle in females characterized by a series of changes in the ovary and uterus.
Puberty
The developmental stage where an individual becomes capable of sexual reproduction.
Parturition
The process of delivery of the baby.
Implantation
The attachment of the blastocyst to the uterine wall for pregnancy.
Placenta
An organ that forms during pregnancy for nutrient and waste exchange between the mother and fetus.
Ejaculatory duct
The duct through which sperms are expelled from the male reproductive system.
Primary follicle
The structure formed when a primary oocyte is surrounded by granulosa cells.
Corpus luteum
The remnant of the Graafian follicle after ovulation that secretes hormones necessary for pregnancy.
Leydig cells
Cells located in the interstitial spaces of the testis that produce androgens.
Acrosome
The cap-like structure on the sperm head that contains enzymes aiding fertilization.
Mammary glands
Glands that produce milk in female mammals, key for infant nutrition.
Cervical canal
The channel through which the uterus opens into the vagina.
Fimbriae
Finger-like projections on the infundibulum of the oviduct that help collect the ovum after ovulation.
