What is Xc Y?
The genotype of a colorblind male.
What is a carrier female?
A female who carries the colorblindness allele but is not colorblind herself.
What is a Punnett square?
A diagram used to predict the genotypes and phenotypes of offspring from a genetic cross.
What is Autosomal Recessive?
Mode of inheritance where the affected gene is on a non-sex chromosome and requires two copies of the recessive allele to display the trait.
What is Autosomal Dominant?
Mode of inheritance where the affected gene is on a non-sex chromosome and only one copy of the dominant allele is needed to display the trait.
What is X-Linked Recessive?
Mode of inheritance where the affected gene is located on the X chromosome.
What is Blood Typing?
A method to determine an individual's blood type based on the presence or absence of certain antigens.
What is a plasmid?
A small, circular DNA molecule that replicates independently of the bacterial chromosome.
What is Bacterial Transformation?
A process by which bacterial cells take up foreign DNA, resulting in genetic change.
What is a genotype?
The genetic makeup of an organism.
What is a phenotype?
the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.
