Ad-Hoc Networks

Cloud Storage

Cloud Computing

External Threats

Phishing
A fake message, such as a fake bank email, that pretends to be real to steal passwords.
Malware
Harmful software, with specific types to remember being viruses, ransomware, and spyware.
Internal Threats
Security risks caused by employees, examples of which include human error, weak passwords, and unsafe downloads.
Passwords
A secret word or phrase used to control access; good versions are long and use mixed characters.
Biometrics
Security authentication that uses physical features, such as fingerprints and face recognition.
Firewalls
Systems used to block suspicious traffic and protect networks.
Anti-Virus Software
Software that detects malware and removes viruses; it requires regular updating.
Encryption
The process of scrambling data to keep it safe, with the risk that losing the key results in losing the data.
Environmental Impact of IT
The effects related to the manufacturing, use, and disposal of digital devices.
Data Protection
Laws that protect personal data by setting rules businesses must follow to keep data safe and prevent misuse.
Right to be Forgotten
Also called the 'right to erasure,' this allows people to ask for their data to be deleted, a process for which the business has 1 month to comply.
Cookies
Small files stored on a device to track website activity; websites must explain them and ask for permission.
Flowcharts
Diagrams that show the steps in a process using standard symbols to clearly show logic and spot mistakes.

Process Symbol
The rectangle symbol used in a flowchart.
Decision Symbol
