Assuage
To make something unpleasant, such as pain, fear, or anger less intense. it means to soothe or relieve discomfort
Coalition
A temporary alliance formed by different groups of parties working together for a common goal. It often dissolves once the goal is achieved.
Decadence
A state of moral, cultural, or social decline, often marked by excessive luxury or indulgence. It can also refer to overindulgence in pleasure.
Hackneyed
Describes something that is overused and no longer original or interesting. It often refers to phrases, ideas, or stories that feel cliche.
Hiatus
A temporary break or pause in activity or continuity. It usually implies that something will resume later.
Jaded
Feeling tired, bored, or lacking enthusiasm, often because of too much exposure to something. suggests mental or emotional fatigue.
Lurid
Something shocking, exaggerated, or sensational, often in a way that is meant to attract attention. It can also describe something vivid and unpleasant.
Prerogative
A special right or privilege that belongs to a particular person or group, allows them to make decisions or act in a certain way.
Transcend
To rise above or go beyond limits, expectations, or ordinary experience. Often implies surpassing boundaries or standars.
Umbrage
A feeling of offense or annoyance caused by being insulted, slighted, or treated unfairly. Shade cast by trees
Achilles’ Heel
A person’s main weakness or vulenrable point despite overall strength. It comes from Greek mythology, where Achilles had a fatal weakness.
Waterloo
A persons decisive defeat or downfall. Refers to final loss that ends success or power, based on the Battle of Waterloo.
Ameliorate
To make something bad or unsatisfactory better or improve it. It is often used when talking about improving conditions, situations, or problems.
Bombastic
Used very grand, exaggerated, or showy language that sounds impressive but often lacks real meaning. It usually describes speech or writing that is overly dramatic.
Drivel
Speech or writing that is silly, meaningless, or unimportant. It refers to nonsense that lacks sense or value.
Epitome
A perfect example or representation of a particular quality or type. It describes something or someone that fully represents a specific characteristic.
Exhort
To strongly encourage or urge someone to do something. It is often used when someone is being motivated or pushed to take action.
Infringe
To violate or break a rule, law, or right. It often refers to crossing legal or moral boundaries.
Intrinsic
To belong naturally or being a basic part of something. It describes qualities that are essential and come from within.
Permeate
To spread throughout something and fill it completely. It is often used when something like smell, liquid, or influence spreads everywhere.
Stringent
Very strict, precise, or demanding in rules or standards. It describes regulations or requirements that are difficult to meet.
Surmise
To make an educated guess based on limited information. It means forming an opinion without full proof.
Sirens
In mythology, dangerous creatures whose singing lured sailors to destruction, or loud warning devices used to signal danger. Both meanings involve attracting attention or warning.
Ivory tower
A state of being isolated from practical or real-world concerns, often used to describe intellectuals or experts disconnected from everyday life.
