The Paschal Mystery
The work of salvation accomplished by Jesus mainly through his suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension

Isaiah wrote about the suffering servant, how he bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we are healed.

Jesus, like the Paschal lamb, died to liberate everyone from sin. Both died on the same day.

This term was used to describe Jesus because they wanted to explain the saving nature of Jesus to the Romans, how he was the price to release a slave from slavery (release us from sin)

They were perfect, they were sacrificed. Their blood freed the people from captivity (lamb - physical captivity, Jesus - spiritual)

that everything Jesus said was true, heaven is real, it’s all true. It validates his divinity, confirms the forgiveness of sin, and guarantees eternal life.

Music helps us understand the paschal mystery by using rhythm, emotion, and beauty to show how death leads to new life, like Christ’s dying and rising
how do we participate in the paschal mystery when we participate in the eucharist?
we recieve the body and blood of Christ, then we are spiritually united to his sacrifice, death and resurrection, receiving grace and being transformed into his body, the church.
Suffering isn’t a sign of weakness but strength
It’s going through suffering that makes us stronger afterward, weak people give up.
why did Jesus have to suffer and die? why suffering?
SO that we may be forgiven of our sins and live eternally with him in heaven. It was God’s plan to overcome sin & death
Common reasons we suffer, how did Jesus suffer like us?
Not learning what the Bible teaches us, us living in a world full of sin, to teach us compassion and empathy, like “chipping” of our selfish desires. Jesus tempted, frustrated, weary, disappointed, ridiculed, sorrowful, rejected, lonely, he was poor.
