Breed
A set of animals that in some way are diffrent from others in the same species
Breeding
To mate 2 organisms of the same speicies to produce offspring
Cross breeding
When diffrent varieties or breeds are mated with one another
Selective breeding
When humans choose certain animals and plants that have useful charateristics and breed more of those organisms
Yield
How much of something useful to humans that an organism produce
Allele
specific variant form of a gene
Homozygous
When you inherit the same allele from both your parents
Hetreozygous
one allele inherited from each biological parent.
Genotype
complete set of genetic material an individual carries for a trait or gene
Phenotype
observable physical chareteristics of a human being
Dominant
version of a gene which overpowers a reccessive gene
recessive
allele whose traits are masked by the dominant allele
punnet square
grid used in biology to predict a offspring inheriting traits from their parents
When do you use a bar or histogram
bar when the date is discontinuous eg. right handed left handed and histogram when the data is continous eg. weight
Natural selection
describes how organisms better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive, reproduce, and pass on their advantageous genetic traits.
