    • look for WBCs or presence of bacteria

Management of non-specific urethritis?

  • doxycycline100mg BD for 7 days

  • azithromycin 1g initial dose followed by 500mg daily for 2 days (alternative).

  • sexual partners should be tested and treated - even if no symptoms present

  • avoid sexual intercourse until treatment completed

    • usually 7 days
