Ulna Location
Lies on the medial side of the forearm, which is the little finger side.
Three Parts of the Ulna
The upper end, the shaft, and the lower end.
Olecranon
An anatomical feature that forms the point of the elbow.
Trochlear Notch
Formed by the combination of the Olecranon and the Coronoid process; it articulates with the trochlea of the humerus.
Radial Notch
A features located on the ulna that articulates with the head of the radius.
Superior Radioulnar Joint
The joint formed by the articulation of the radial notch and the head of the radius.
Ulnar Notch
A feature present on the radius bone that articulates with the head of the ulna.
Inferior Radioulnar Joint
The joint formed by the articulation of the head of the ulna and the ulnar notch of the radius.
Interosseous (Lateral) Border
Identified as the most important border of the ulna, which serves as the attachment point for the interosseous membrane.
Nutrient Foramen of the Ulna
A passage directed upwards toward the elbow, through which the anterior interosseous artery passes.
Styloid Process of the Ulna
A projection located on the posteromedial side of the lower end of the ulna.
Articular Disc (TFCC)
A structure that separates the ulna from the wrist joint, as the ulna does not directly articulate with wrist bones.
Triceps Brachii
The muscle that inserts into the olecranon.
Brachialis
The muscle that inserts into the coronoid process and the ulnar tuberosity.
Supinator
The muscle that arises from the supinator crest.
Pronator Teres (Ulnar Head)
The muscle that arises from the coronoid process.
Flexor Digitorum Profundus
The muscle that arises from most of the anterior and medial shaft of the ulna.
Pronator Quadratus
The muscle that arises from the lower anterior portion of the ulna.
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
A muscle that arises from the olecranon and the posterior border of the ulna.
Extensor Carpi Ulnaris
A muscle that arises from the posterior border of the ulna.
Anconeus
The muscle that inserts on the lateral olecranon and the upper posterior shaft of the ulna.
Posterior Ulna Attachment Muscles
The three thumb-related muscles (Abductor pollicis longus, Extensor pollicis longus) and the Extensor indicis.
Ulnar Tuberosity Attachments
The brachialis muscle and the oblique cord.
General Notch Rule
The radial notch is on the ulna, and the ulnar notch is on the radius.
