What do we expect to be free from?
We expect that everyone has the right to be free from harm.
How many forms can harm take?
Harm can take many forms.
What is the first form of harm?
Firstly, physical harm to individuals such as murder, manslaughter or GBH.
What is the second form of harm?
Secondly, harm to the victim via property such as theft, robbery or burglary.
What is the third form of harm?
Thirdly, harm to the wider community such as issues with pollution and food safety.
What is the fourth form of harm?
Fourthly, risk of harm to the public, such as public orders and anti-terrorism offences.
What is the final form of harm that we are protected from?
Finally, we are protected from harming ourselves, such as through drugs laws and restrictions on the defence of consent (Brown and others).
