Hierarchy

Priest
A religious leader in the Christian church who performed ceremonies and provided spiritual guidance during the Middle Ages.
Lord
A powerful landowner who granted land to others in exchange for loyalty and service.
Vassal
A person who received a grant of land from a lord in exchange for a pledge of loyalty and services.
Feudalism
A social and political system based on the granting of land in exchange for loyalty, military service, and other duties.
Noble
A person of high rank by birth or title within the social hierarchy.
Daimyo
A Japanese feudal lord who commanded a private army of samurai and held large estates.
Knight
An armed warrior who fought on horseback and served a lord in medieval Europe.
Samurai
A member of a powerful military caste in feudal Japan, known for following a strict code of honor.
Scholar-official
An educated member of the government bureaucracy, typically identified in historical Asian governance systems.
Pawn
A person used by others for their own purposes, often representing those at the lowest level of a social or political system.
Excommunicate
To formally exclude a person from participation in the sacraments and services of the Christian Church.
Crusades
A series of religious wars initiated by the Latin Church to recover the Holy Land from Islamic rule.
Holy Land
The region of Palestine, including the city of Jerusalem, which is considered sacred by Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
