P Wave
Represents atrial depolarization; indicates activation of the atria squeezing blood into the ventricles.
PR Interval
The flat stretch following the P wave; indicates the delay of the AV node allowing ventricles to fill.
QRS Complex
Represents ventricular depolarization; indicates the ventricles firing and contracting to push blood out.
ST Segment
The flat segment after the QRS complex; elevation may indicate a myocardial infarction.
T Wave
Represents repolarization; indicates the resetting of the ventricles to prepare for the next cycle.
