Choosing behaviors and habits that improve your physical, mental, emotional, and social health.
Health
Overall well-being of body, mind, and relationships.
Health Triangle
A concept described using three sides: Physical, Mental/Emotional, and Social Health.
Physical Health
How well your body functions; examples include eating nutritious foods, exercising, and getting enough sleep.
Mental/Emotional Health
How you think, feel, and cope with life, including managing stress and having self-confidence.
Social Health
How well you interact with others, including communicating effectively and respecting others.
Decision Making
The process of choosing between options.
Step 1 of Decision-Making
Identify the Problem: Determine what decision needs to be made.
Step 2 of Decision-Making
Gather Information: Learn about your options.
Step 3 of Decision-Making
Consider the Consequences: Think about short-term and long-term results.
Step 4 of Decision-Making
Make a Decision: Choose the best option.
Step 5 of Decision-Making
Evaluate the Outcome: Assess if the decision helped you.
Risk Factor
Increases the chance of health problems or negative health outcomes.
Protective Factor
Reduces health risks and promotes health, such as a supportive family or physical activity.
Nutrition
Getting nutrients from food by eating a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
Physical Activity (Teen Recommendation)
Experts recommend about 60minutes of activity daily for teens to improve muscle, bone, and heart health.
Sleep (Teen Recommendation)
Most teenagers need 8–10hours of sleep per night to avoid poor concentration and mood changes.
Refusal Skills
Strategies used to resist unhealthy behaviors, such as saying "No" clearly or suggesting another activity.
Wellness
Actively maintaining good health.
SMART Goal
A goal-setting method that improves success by ensuring goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Specific: Clearly define the goal.

Measurable: Track progress.
A in SMART
Achievable: Make the goal realistic.
R in SMART
Relevant: Important to your life.
