Granulocytes
A type of white blood cell (WBC) crucial for the immune response.
Thrombus
A blood clot that forms in a blood vessel and obstructs blood flow.
Thromboembolism
A condition where a blood clot travels and blocks blood vessels.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Anticoagulants
Medications that prevent blood clotting.
Hemorrhage
Excessive bleeding due to damaged blood vessels.
Anemia
A condition where there is a deficiency in the number or quality of red blood cells.
Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia
Anemia resulting from insufficient vitamin B12, leading to fewer healthy red blood cells.
Sickle Cell Anemia
A genetic disorder where red blood cells assume a sickle shape, leading to various health issues.
Multiple Myeloma
A cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow, characterized by the proliferation of abnormal plasma cells.
Lymphoma
A type of cancer that originates in lymphatic cells, categorized as Hodgkin or Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Transfusion Reaction
An adverse response when the recipient's immune system attacks transfused blood cells.
Iron Deficiency Anemia
Anemia caused by inadequate iron, impairing hemoglobin production.
Clinical Presentation of DVT
Symptoms often include pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in the affected limb.
CBC (Complete Blood Count)
A blood test used to evaluate overall health and detect various disorders, including anemia.
Coagulation Studies
Tests measuring how well and how fast blood clots, including Prothrombin Time (PT) and Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT).
Hydroxyurea
A medication used to treat sickle cell disease by increasing fetal hemoglobin production.
Thrombectomy
A surgical procedure to remove a blood clot.
D-dimer test
A blood test that measures the presence of a substance that's released when a blood clot breaks up.
Pulmonary Embolism Symptoms
Chest pain, shortness of breath, and hemoptysis.
Chest x-ray
An imaging test to check for issues in the lungs and heart.
Chronic Pain in Sickle Cell Disease
Frequent episodes of pain due to sickle cell crises, impacting daily activities and quality of life.
