Freedom and Responsibility
implies that an individual has a capacity for self-awareness and awareness of their environment that allows them to make their own choices
they are responsible for their life dilemmas
Aloneness and Relatedness
encourage individuals to find their own identity and inner direction before attempting to connect with others
groups help to form meaningful connections
Existential Anxiety and Search for Meaning
finding what occupations are meaningful
anxiety is seen as necessary to living and is viewed as a motivator to make necessary changes in behavior, values, or life structure
Humanistic Concepts
are based on the assumption that clients really know what is best for them
