Social Health and Wellbeing
A dimension focused on effective communication, supportive family and friend networks, and productive relationships.
Spiritual Health and Wellbeing
A dimension involving a sense of belonging, meaning and purpose in life, and acting according to personal values and beliefs.
Incidence
The number of new cases of a condition, usually measured within a 12-month period.
Prevalence
The total number of cases of a condition or individuals affected at a given point in time.
Trend
A general movement or pattern showing the direction in which something is developing or changing over time.

Major Depressive Disorder Trends
The proportion of youth experiencing this condition increased from 2.9% in 1998 to 5% in 2013-14.
Risk Factor
Something that increases the likelihood of developing a disease or injury, such as discrimination, violence, or low socioeconomic status.
Protective Factor
Something that shields against risk exposure, reduces impact, or changes the response to a risk, such as resilience and stable home environments.
Health Literacy
An individual's ability to access and understand information to manage stress, strengthen resilience, and make health-promoting choices.
Primary Healthcare
Services including general practice (GPs), dispensing medicines, psychology, and community health centers.
Specialist Care
Services provided for specific or complex conditions, such as cancer treatment or alcohol and drug services.
Medicare
The universal health insurance scheme of Australia.
Direct Costs
Monetary costs associated with preventing or providing health services for a condition, such as ambulance fees or doctor's fees.
Indirect Costs
Costs resulting from a disease that are not related to diagnosis or treatment, such as loss of income or lost school days.
Intangible Costs
Non-monetary costs that are difficult to value, such as pain, suffering, stress, or emotional impact on family.
Headspace
A National Youth Mental Health foundation funded by the Australian government providing early intervention for those aged 12-25.
Youth Advocacy
Actions and support aimed at protecting vulnerable young people and empowering them with a stronger voice regarding health goals.
