They assist in the design of the cavity prep. They also refine cavity walls. Examples are: Chisel, hatchet, how, excavators, gingival margin trimmers ans angle formers.
What do carvers do; what are some examples?
They carve anatomy into restoration. Examples include: hollenback carver, discoid-cleoid carver.
What do burnishers do?
They smooth the margins of the restoration. Examples are the t-ball, football, and acorn.
