a mental representation of the spatial characteristics of a familiar environment

what is latent learning

learning that is hidden. rewards affect whether the learned behaviour will be demonstrated, not whether learning has occurred.

what is social-cognitive learning?

Bandura's study demonstrated the following: observational learning, vicarious reinforcement and vicarious punishment, and latent learning

what is vicarious reinforcement and punishment?

where performance of aggressive acts is influenced by mental representations of observed consequences.

what are the 2 theories that explains why learning can occur without reward or punishment?

latent learning: learning that is hidden

observational learning: active judgment and constructive processes.

how did Tolman show that latent learning occurred in his rat maze?

rats learned the maze layout and that learning was only observable until they had an incentive (food) and their performance at navigating the maze equalled the group that had received a food reward

What did Bandura’s Bobo doll study demonstrate?

vicarious reinforcement and vicarious punishment. it is where behaviour is either reinforced or punished through modelling giving the reward or punishment
