How do you form the open possibility clause?

present tense + future tense

> Si tu fais un effort, tu réussiras= if you make and effort, you will succeed

(french and english mirror each other)

How do you form the hypothetical clause?

imperfect tense + conditional tense

> Si tu faisais un effort, tu réussirais= if you made an effort, you would succeed

(always has conditional)

How do you form the unfulfilled clause?

pluperfect tense + conditional perfect tense

> Si tu avais fait un effort, tu aurais réussi= If you had made an effort, you would have succeeded

(always has conditional perfect)

Translate- If you take the plane, you will arrive faster

OPEN POSSIBILITY

Si vous prenez l’avion, vous arriverez plus vite

Translate- If you took/ were taking the plane, you would arrive faster

HYPOTHETICAL

Si vous preniez l’avion, vous arriveriez plus vite

Translate- If you had taken the plane, you would have arrived faster

UNFULFILLED

Si vous aviez pris l’avion, vous serions arrivé plus vite
