Independent (Between Subject) Use when

Different people are in each group

• T-Test (2 Groups)

• ANOVA (3+ Groups)

Dependent (within subject) Use when

The same people are measured more than once

• T-Tes (2 Conditions)

• ANOVA (3+ Conditions)

When comparing 2 groups/Conditions

When to use ANOVA

When comparing 3 groups/conditions

When Post-Hoc test are use in ANOVA

You use Post-hoc test when:

• The ANOVA is Significant

• And there are 3 or more group

Why is the post-hoc test are used in ANOVA

ANOVA only tells you “At least one group is different.”

It does not tell you which group

So the post-hoc tests tells you where the difference is

• Waitlist control group

• Yoked control group

Placebo

A control group that is led to believe they are receiving a treatment when in fact they aren’t

Waitlist control group

Does not receive the treatment during the study BUT does receive it after the study ends

Yoked Control Group

A pair

Control group get’s the same amount to an experimental group
