What is an inscribed angle
An angle whose vertex is on the circle and whose sides contain chords of the circle.
What is a central angle
An angle whose vertex is the center of the circle.
What is the diameter
The distance across the circle, through its center.
What is a proportion
An equation with two equal ratios.
What is an apothem
The distance from the center to any side of a regular polygon.
What is a tangent line
A line that intersects a circle in exactly one point.
What is a secant line
A line that intersects a circle in exactly two points.
What is a rhombus
A parallelogram with four congruent sides.
What is a regular polygon
A polygon with congruent sides and angles.
What is a kite
A quadrilateral with two pairs of consecutive sides congruent and opposite sides not congruent.
What is a scale factor
The ratio of the lengths of two corresponding sides in a similar figure.
What is a radius
A segment of a circle whose endpoints are the center of the circle and a point on the circle.
What is a diagonal
A segment that joins two nonconsecutive vertices of a polygon.
What is a chord
A segment whose endpoints are on the circle.
What is the hypotenuse
The side opposite the right angle in a right triangle.
What is a converse statement
A statement found by switching the hypothesis and conclusion of a conditional statement.
What are congruent figures
Two geometric figures that have exactly the same size and shape.
What are similar figures
Two geometric figures with congruent corresponding angles, and corresponding proportional sides.
What is a convex polygon
A polygon that does not have any sides caving in.
What are parallel lines
Lines in a plane that do not intersect.
What are skew lines
Lines not in the same plane that do not intersect.
What is the circumference
The distance around a circle.
What is an isosceles figure
A triangle or trapezoid with at least two congruent sides.
What is an equilateral polygon
A polygon with all sides equal.
What are trigonometric ratios
Sine, cosine, and tangent are all collectively called this.
What is a postulate
A statement that can be assumed without proof.
What are complementary angles
Two angles whose measures add up to 90 degrees.
What is sine
A trig ratio that is opposite divided by hypotenuse.
What is a major arc
A part of a circle that measures between 180 and 360 degrees.
What is probability
A measure of the likelihood that an event will occur.
What is a linear pair
Two adjacent angles whose measures add up to 180 degrees.
What is cosine
A trig ratio that is adjacent divided by hypotenuse.
What is a rectangle
A parallelogram with four congruent angles.
What are perpendicular lines
Intersecting lines that form a right angle.
