Study Guide
A resource designed to help students prepare for the End-Of-Course Test.
Study Tools and Resources
Materials and aids that can assist students in their preparation, such as textbooks, dictionaries, and study partners.
Time Management
The ability to plan and use time effectively to study for exams.
Active Participation
Engaging actively with study materials through interaction, such as asking questions and quizzing peers.
Mock EOC
A practice test designed to simulate the actual End-Of-Course Test.
Homeostasis
The process by which living organisms regulate their internal environment to maintain stable conditions.
Hypothesis
A tentative explanation for an observation that can be tested through investigation.
Independent Variable
The variable that is manipulated in an experiment to test its effects.
Dependent Variable
The variable that is measured or observed in response to changes in the independent variable.
Control
A standard condition in experiments against which experimental observations can be compared.
Replication
The process of repeating an experiment to verify results.
Biochemical Reactions
Chemical processes that occur within living organisms to maintain life.
Natural Selection
The process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.
Dichotomous Key
A tool used to identify organisms based on a series of choices that lead to the correct name or identification.
Symbiosis
A close relationship between two different species that can be beneficial, harmful, or neutral.
Ecosystem
A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
Biogeochemical Cycles
Processes that recycle nutrients in various chemical forms from the environment to the organisms and then back to the environment.
Mutation
A change in the DNA sequence of an organism, which can lead to genetic variation.
Genotype
The genetic makeup of an organism, represented by alleles.
Phenotype
The physical expression or characteristics of a genotype.
Fertilization
The fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote.
Punnett Square
A diagram used to predict the genetic outcomes of a cross between two organisms.
Endangered Species
A species at risk of extinction due to habitat loss, overhunting, or environmental changes.
