target population
the target population is the group of people pyclogists are interested in when conducting there exp e.g uk youth.
sample
a sample is a select small group of people from your target population
generalisability
researcher hope to generalise from there sample to the the target population. for example if a resercher wants to reserch dreams of youths in the uk, they would get a sample of youths from the uk and using the results from them, the researchers will apply them to the rest of the target popualtion
representativeness
such generalisations only make sense if the the sample is representative of the target population, the aim of all sampling techniques is to produce a representative sample
