Atonic
means lacking normal muscle tone or strength or the muscles are weak or have no strength. (a- = without, ton= tone, and -ic = pertaining to).

Ataxia
a condition where a person cannot control their movements well (a- = without, tax = coordination, and -ia = condition).

Bradykinesia
is A condition where a person moves very slowly (brady- = slow, kines = movement, and -ia = condition).

Dyskinesia
Uncontrolled or strange body movements a person's body moves in ways they cannot control. (dys-= bad, kines = movement, and -ia = condition).

Hyperkinesia
, also known as hyperactivity, is abnormally increased muscle function or activity (hyper- = excessive, kines = movement, and -ia = condition).

Adhesion
is a strong piece of tissue that sticks parts of the body together. This can happen after you get hurt or have an operation. Adhesions can be in muscles or inside the body.
Atrophy
means when muscles or body parts become weak or smaller. This can happen if the muscle is sick or if it is not used for a long time.

Sarcopenia
is the loss of muscle mass, strength, and function that come with aging (sarc/o = flesh, and -penia = deficiency).

A Hernia
happens when a part inside your body, like an organ, pushes out through a weak place in the muscle that usually holds it inside.

Polymyositis
(PM) is a muscle disease characterized by the simultaneous inflammation and weakening of voluntary muscles in many parts of the body. (poly- = many, myos = muscle, and -itis = inflammation).

fasciotomy
is a surgical incision through the fascia to relieve tension or pressure. Without this procedure, which is commonly used to treat compartment syndrome, the pressure causes a loss of circulation that damages the affected tissues.

A muscle biopsy
involves removal of a plug of tissue for examination. A biopsy needle is commonly used to obtain this specimen.

Myorrhaphy
is the surgical suturing (the method of sewing those tissues back together) of a muscle.

myotomy
is a surgical incision (the surgical cut made in the skin to access tissues) into a muscle.
