Caudal Muscles of the Thigh: Biceps femoris
Attaches = Origin and insertion: Sacrotuberous ligament and ischiatic tuberosity/ Fascia lata and crural fascia to the patella, patellar ligament, cranial border of tibia, tuber calcanei.
Action: extend the hip, stifle, and hock. Caudal part flexes the stifle
Innervation: Sciatic nerve.
Caudal Muscles of the Thigh: Semitendiosus
Attachment (Origin & insertion): distal femur and the proximal tibia; tibia, tuber calcanei by means of the crural fascia
Action: Extend the hip, flex the stifle, extend the hock
Innervation: Sciatic n.
Caudal Muscles of the Thigh: Semimembranosus
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Ischiatic tuberosity; distal femur and the proximal tibia
Action: Extend the hip. Part that attaches to the femur extends the stifle, part that attaches to the tibia flexes or extends the stifle
Innervation: Sciatic n.
Medial Muscles of the Thigh: Sartorius
Attachment (Origin & insertion):Ilium and thoracolumbar fascia (caudal part - ilium); Cranial part - the patella. caudal part - the cranial border of the tibia
Action: Flex the hip. Cranial part - extends the stifle; caudal part; flexes the stifle
Innervation: Femoral n.
Medial Muscles of the Thigh: Gracilis
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Pelvic symphysis; cranial border of the tibia, tuber calcanei
Action: Adduct the limb, flex the stifle and extends the hip and hock
Innervation: Obturator n.
Medial Muscles of the Thigh: Pectineus
Attachment (Origin & insertion): pubis; distal femur
Action: To adduct the limb
Innervation: Obturator n.
Medial Muscles of the Thigh: Adductor
Attachment (Origin & insertion): pelvic symphysis and ventral pubis; Lateral femur
Action: Adduct the limb and extend the hip
Innervation: Obturator n.
Lateral Muscles of the Pelvis (Rump): Tensor fascia latea
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Tuber coxae, aponeurosis of the middle gluteal muscle; Lateral femoral fascia

Innervation: Dont need to know
Lateral Muscles of the Pelvis (Rump): Superficial Gluteal
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Sacrotuberous ligament (ilium); 3rd trochanter
Action: Extend the hip and abduct the limb
Innervation: Dont need to know
Lateral Muscles of the Pelvis (Rump): Middle Gluteal
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Ilium; Greater trochanter
Action: Extend and abduct the hip, rotate the pelvic limb medially
Innervation: Dont need to know
Lateral Muscles of the Pelvis (Rump): Deep Gluteal
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Body of the ilium; greater trochanter
Action: Extend and abduct the hip and rotate the pelvic limb medially
Innervation: Dont need to know
Cranial Muscles of the Thigh: Quadriceps Femoris (laterals, medals, rectus, intermedius)
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Rectus femoris - ilium | Vasti muscles - proximal part of the femur; Tibial tuberosity by the way of the patella/patellar ligament
Action: Extend the stifle (all) and flex the hip (rectus)
Innervation: Femoral n.
Cranial Muscles of the Thigh: Iliopsoas
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Lumbar vertebrae and cranioventral ilium; Lesser trochanter
Action: Major flexor of the hip
Innervation: Femoral n.
Craniolateral Muscles of the Leg: Cranial Tibial
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Extensor groove; Lateral edge of the cranial tibial border; Plantar surface of the base of metatarsals I and II
Action: Flex the tarsus and rotate the paw laterally (Supination)
Innervation: Common fibular n.
Craniolateral Muscles of the Leg: Long digital extensor
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Extensor fossa of the femur; Extensor processes of the distal phalanges of digits II, III, IV, V
Action: Extend the digits and flex the tarsus
Innervation: Common fibular n.
Craniolateral Muscles of the Leg: Fibularis (Peroneus) Longus
Attachment (Origin & insertion): Lateral condyle of the tibia, proximal end of the fibiula, lateral epicondyles of the femur by means of the lateral collateral ligament of the stifle; tarsal bone - plantar aspect of the base of the metatarsals
