Baltic Sea Germany, tragedies at childhood > deaths of family. Made think about life, loneliness, nature > art.
Why do you focus so much on nature and landscapes in your artwork?
Powerful, emotional, connected to God. Focus > mountains, oceans, forests, and skies > reflect human feelings.
How does emotion play a role in your paintings?
viewers to feel something, The fog, dark trees, empty spaces, and quiet figures help create emotions
What message were you trying to send through your Romantic-style artwork?
Romanticism >emotion, imagination, and the beauty of nature. slow down and think about their connection to the natural world and to God. feelings and personal logic.
Why do many of your paintings include lonely figures facing away from the viewer?

man > human reflection and discovery, fog and mountains > power of nature. viewer feel inspired
What do you hope people feel or think about when they look at your paintings today?
feel emotion and connection, reflect on nature, life, and their place in the world. people slow down and appreciate the surroundings around them.
