First Amendment
1. Freedom of religion:
• a. No establishment clause
• b. Free exercise clause
2. Freedom of speech
3. Freedom of the press
4. Right to assemble and petition the government.
II. (The Second Amendment)
The right to keep and bear arms.
III. (The Third Amendment)
No quartering of soldiers in times of peace.
IV. (The Fourth Amendment)
No search and seizure without probable cause (a warrant).
V. (The Fifth Amendment)
1. Right to a grand jury.
2. You cannot be tried more than once for the same crime.
3. You do not have to testify against yourself in court.
4. Due process of law must be followed.
VI. (The Sixth Amendment)
1. You have the right to a speedy and public trial.
2. You must be told the charges against you.
3. You may confront witnesses against you.
4. You may obtain your own witnesses.
5. You have the right to counsel (a lawyer).
6. You have the right to a jury.
VII. (The Seventh Amendment)
You have the right to a jury in a civil case.
VIII. (The Eighth Amendment)
1. No excessive bail or fines.
2. No cruel or unusual punishment.
IX. (The Ninth Amendment)
You have other rights not listed.
X. (The Tenth Amendment)
Powers not given to the government are reserved to the states or the people.
